Controlling is the measurement of performance and subsequent corrections of the project plan to ensure that enterprise objectives are accomplished against the plan. Planning and Controlling are closely related according to management pundits. The monitoring and controlling activities are to be proactive in finding issues ahead of time to take corrective action. Controlling process oversees all the tasks to ensure that the project is progressing within the scope, on time, and on budget to ensure minimal risk. The process involves comparing actual performance with planned performance, and taking corrective action to yield the desired outcome. Controlling is a continuous activity performed throughout the life time of a project.
